Painted Buckeye (Aesculus sylvatica) is a short tree or shrub of the southeastern U.S., to 33 feet tall, with an open, rounded crown, trunk slender, to 9.8 inches in diameter. The National Champion has a circumference of 80 inches, a height of 60 feet, and a crown spread of 46 feet. Georgia Buckeye is also known as Dwarf Buckeye and makes an excellent shrub / small tree for landscape purposes. The specific name sylvatica means wild, of woods or forests, from sylvan (one that frequents groves or woods).
